Allumettes2018 - en cours
Il était une fois une histoire qui finit tristement.
Celle d’une petite fille vendant ses allumettes le soir du 31…
Et celle de migrants tentant leur chance, même minime.
Un destin tragique dans deux histoires.
Le réel rejoignant le conte.
Chaque allumette gravée est la vie perdue
d’un migrant décédé, un espoir envolé.
Lorsque j’étais enfant et que j’ai lu pour la première fois le conte de la
petite fille aux allumettes, une profonde tristesse s’est emparée de moi.
Des années après, à la découverte de la liste publiée par UNITED
https://unitedagainstrefugeedeaths.eu/about-the-campaign/about-the-united-list-of-deaths/
(qui
tente de répertorier toutes les personnes décédées en essayant de rejoindre
l’Europe ou d’y rester), mon esprit a fait un parallèle et c’est ainsi
qu’est né le projet permettant de réaliser que derrière les chiffres et les
statistiques entendues, se cache des vies humaines, des histoires.
Sur chaque allumette est gravé le nom d’une personne, accompagné sur les
différentes faces de son âge, de son pays d’origine et de la cause de sa
mort.
Un petit objet comme dernière trace d’une vie.
L’installation se compose des boites d’allumettes gravées posées sur des
socles, d’une vidéo projetée où les allumettes sont brûlées une à une tout
en récitant le nom et l’histoire de l’individu et des boites d’allumettes
remplies des cendres restantes après la vidéo.

Matches2018 - in progress
Once upon a time, there was a story that ended sadly.
That of a little girl selling her matches on the evening of the 31st…
And of migrants trying their luck, however small.
A tragic fate in two stories.
The real meets the tale.
Each engraved match is the lost life
of a deceased migrant, a lost hope.
When I was a child and first read the story of the little match girl, a
deep sadness came over me. Years later, when I discovered the list
published by UNITED
https://unitedagainstrefugeedeaths.eu/about-the-campaign/about-the-united-list-of-deaths/
(which
tries to list all the people who died trying to reach or stay in Europe),
my mind drew a parallel and that’s how the project was born to realise that
behind the numbers and the statistics we hear, there are human lives,
stories.
On each match is engraved the name of a person, accompanied on the
different engraved sides by their age, country of origin and cause of death.
A small object as the last trace of a life.
The installation consists of engraved matchboxes placed on pedestals, a
projected video where the matches are burnt one by one while reciting the
name and story of the individual and the matchboxes filled with the
remaining ashes after the video.

L’envers du décor
Une carte du monde, des océans, mais pourquoi une carte sur le tourisme
dans un atlas scolaire ? Est-il important de connaître les destinations
estivales les plus fréquentées ?
N’y a-t-il pas d’autres flux humains non guidés par l’attrait du voyage,
mais bien par leur sécurité, leur vie, leurs espoirs ; des flux
indésirables contrairement aux apports financiers, commerciaux et
touristiques ? Et si nous regardions l’envers du décor ?

Is it important to know the most popular summer destinations? summer

Are there not other human flows not guided by the attraction of by the
attraction of travel, but rather by their safety, their lives, their hopes;
undesirable flows in contrast to the financial, commercial and tourist
