(English below)Dans les moments difficiles que nous traversons, dans les
tourments de la vie des proches et des lointains, au milieu de mille
problèmes et sujets de tension, passer quelques heures à dessiner est un
plaisir rare. J’ai accepté pour le compte du Musée du Souffle de réaliser
une nouvelle œuvre murale éphémère dans le cadre de la courte mais
importante exposition à Venise, « When solidarity is not a metaphor »
(16-21 Avril). « A liquid monument » relie Méditerranée, Caraïbes et
Passage du Milieu pour rendre hommage aux morts et fabriquer l’écho de
leurs voix dans nos luttes présentes et à venir. J’accueille dans ce
nouveau blueprint les Drexciyans, peuple des gouffres de l’Atlantique,
imaginé par le groupe africain-américain de musique électronique Drexciya,
la dette haïtienne inventée par la France, la toxicité impériale, les
désirs de souveraineté antillaise mais aussi Pateh Sabbaly, jeune gambien
mort noyé dans l’indifférence dans le canal de Venise en 2017. Celles et
ceux qui soignent et nettoient l’ancien monde ont le droit à des existences
dignes et à des archives vivantes. Cette œuvre est accompagnée d’une
boucle de cinq sons créés en 2022 par le Musée du Souffle pour la Biennale
de Berlin. Du mardi 16 au dimanche 21 avril, venez visiter cette exposition
poignante où se croisent les voix de Palestine, d’Ukraine, du Soudan, du
Myanmar, d’Espagne et les clameurs de rives afro-autochtones des Amériques.
De nombreux événement vous attendent à Navy Officer’s Club (Arsenale).
Chaque jour, des rencontres seront également diffusées en live sur la
webradio R22 Tout-Monde.

In the difficult times we are going through, in the torments of the lives
of close and distant ones, in the midst of a thousand problems and subjects
of tension, spending a few hours drawing is a rare pleasure. I agreed on
behalf of the Musée du Souffle to create a new ephemeral mural as part of
the short but important exhibition in Venice, «When solidarity is not a
metaphor» (16-21 April). «A liquid monument» connects the Mediterranean,
Caribbean and Middle Passage to pay tribute to the dead and create the echo
of their voices in our present and future struggles. I host in this new
blueprint the Drexciyans, people of the abyss of the Atlantic, imagined by
the African-American electronic music group Drexciya, the Haitian debt
invented by France, the imperial toxicity, the desires of Caribbean
sovereignty but also Pateh Sabbaly, young gambian drowned in indifference
in the Venice canal in 2017. Those who care for and clean the old world
have the right to dignified existence and living archives. This work is
accompanied by a loop of five sounds created in 2022 by the Musée du
Souffle for the Berlin Biennale. From Tuesday, April 16 to Sunday, April
21, come and visit this poignant exhibition where the voices of Palestine,
Ukraine, Sudan, Myanmar, Spain and the clamors of African-indigenous shores
of the Americas meet. Many events await you at Navy Officer’s Club
